Faculty of Law Universitas Islam Indonesia

Universitas Islam Indonesia or we can call Indonesia Islamic University is a university that implemented the value of Islam in daily activity. With the Yogyakarta's environtment around the university, this university offer the different situation and condition.

This video explaining about the situation in the campus, the facility, and the activity of the students, lecturers and officers.

UII have a plus value because the place of the university is in the middle of Yogyakarta's Region. Uniquely for Law Faculty, the place is on the middle of Yogyakarta city and if you want to have a small tour around the city, you will find the Malioboro and Pakualaman is just a several minutes from the campus if you use the motorcycles, and of course if you want to try the traditional foods and drinks, you will find that Yogyakarta is the best place.

Here is my shorts story telling about Yogyakarta environtment.

Good attitude is the value of Yogyakarta's people. You will see the fun in the city, especially in some famous place, example malioboro and kaliurang. you can compare Bali and Yogyakarta.

The weather in dry seasons is nice and fresh. When the sun is in the highest position, it will become hot, but usually if you get up early in the morning, you will find the true Yogyakarta. The fresh and good aroma of morning will make you relax and feel refresh.

When the wet seasons take place, the condition in the Yogyakarta will be more COOL and usually the rain will be pouring it's water when afternoon until morning, so be prepare your rain coat and umbrella. And don't  forget to bring some plastic to make sure your shoes or your electronic does not wet.

Hope you enjoy this informations
Thank You

An Early Little Lesson of "Ultra Petita" - GEMILANG THASA

Assalamu'alaikum wr. wb.
Dear fellows,
As some of you know that me and a few of our friends from IP class are joining Forum Kajian dan Penulisan Hukum (FKPH) FH UII. Well, FKPH is holding an internal debate competition to select competitors to participate in debate competition that will be held in Unpad, Bandung.
At the second session, I was given a motion "Authority of constitutional complaint for Constitutional Court (MK)" and I was in the contra team. It is kind of a little bit hard for me because personally I am kind of fan to Mr. Mahfud MD, I support him to be the next Indonesian President also with Prabowo Subianto (I am seventeen now, I have election rights hehehe) and I am actually pro to MK.
Anyway, during the briefcase, I did find a few contra arguments of why MK should not be given this kind of authority.
One of them is "Ultra Petita".
Ultra Petita is decision made by judge more than what is actually demanded, it can also be said as decision towards a case that is not being sued.
Ultra Petita is forbidden because of these reasons:
1. The statute that is demanded to be tested is the "Heart" of the statute, so the whole sections in the statute cannot be implemented.
2. The practise of Ultra Petite done by MK is common in other countries.
3. The test towards the statute is erga omnes, different from private law.
4. The people's need of the existance of Ultra Petita is not absolute.
5. If the public necessity is wanting the judge not to be attached to the petitum, the petitum of justice is assumed to be proposed as well and disposing thing that is not demanded.
That is all I can share to you all for now, fellows. Anyway, wish me pass the FKPH selection ;)

Wholehearted love,
Gemi

Dust Under Our Feet - GEMILANG THASA

Assalamu'alaikum wr. wb.
My dearest fellows,
Mayhaps this posting I make has nonstrong attachment to the law itself at all as we all are law students of a prestigious law school. But still, this one is for us anyway

I remember one certain Indonesian novel I adore (I have to inform you that, sorry, but I personally do not adore much of it!) it is, the one and only, Perahu Kertas by Dewi "Dee" Lestari which also had been adapted into movie by Hanung Bramantyo with Maudy Ayunda and Adipati Dolken as the main protagonists (weirdo Kugy and uniquely adorable Keenan) and I have to inform you that it is not as disappointing as I thought at first if a book is adapted into movie. It is indeed another Indonesian love story but it is certainly not the thing I mean to talk about here. It is one certain quote from that movie that matters:

"Dan Bumi hanyalah sebutir debu di bawah telapak kaki kita."

- Kugy Karma Chameleon

And the Earth is nothing but dust under our feet. I find that quote very interesting and suits us. I think it is the best quote to represent us all so far. Yeah, we, the IP students of UII Law Departement. We with our wildest dreams; those who want to be diplomat, those who want to have dual degree, those who want to finish study abroad, those who want to make their parents and family happy, those who want to have a job in international corporation, those who want to be international lawyer, military and so much more!
So remember this: "Once you have will to spread your wings and fly away through the big blue sky, even the Earth's gravity has no enough strenght to pull you back to the ground."
Let us race, fastabiqul khairats, and go reach our dreams! Wingspeed, fellows!!!

Wholehearted love,
Gemilang Thasa
